Future products of Fat-Stem
Together with various universities in Europe, Fat-Stem is working on the reconstruction of chronic, focal osteochondrial defects of joints in horses and other animals by using autologous stem cells and polymer based scaffolds.
Fat-Stem conducts clinical veterinary research on cellular therapies to improve the survival of implants and cell-based products as well as the healing mechanism behind it. Therefore, Fat-Stem works together with different clinics in Europe. Fat-stem is driven by increasing demands for innovative cellular veterinary treatments, through publications and intellectual property rights.
Research and Development
Cartilage repair
“Chondrogenesis” is an international cooperative project aimed to investigate the reconstruction of a chronic, focal osteochondral defect of joints in racing horses by using autologous stem cells and polymer-based scaffolds.
Arthritis, hip dysplasia, a luxating patella or other forms of joint problems cause severe discomfort and pain. Stem cells can relief pain and can be an effective remedy stopping the limping attitudes of the animal. At Fat-Stem research department stem cells and regenerative cells are isolated from the fat, cultivated and injected into the damaged area to regenerate healthy tissue.

This clinical research which use the animal's own fat to obtain adult progenitor cells, is a collaboration with universities in different countries.
Bone repair
Fat-Stem is developing an autologous bone replacement product to facilitate the healing of subchondral osteolytic lesions in horses.
